Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Neighbourhood dining at it's finest! We went to the Oystercatcher for the first time for date night and we will definitely be back. We had a few oysters to start with the Vietnamese dressing which was a surprisingly nice way to have oysters. Perfectly balanced. Then we had the scallops and the king prawns. The scallops were massive, so tender and paired perfectly with the puree. The prawns were again, absolutely huge and came with sourdough which soaked up all of the sauce and aioli. For mains we had monkfish and swordfish. Both were outstanding. I preferred the monkfish just because of how meaty and juicy It was but you can't really go wrong. I saw the seafood platter on another table and that looked amazing too, so we'll be back for that! Overall I'd say one of the best dining experiences I've had in Chorlton. And walking distance to some great bars for after dinner!"
"Had a fantastic meal here - despite not being a massive seafood lover. The halibut was so flaky and tender and the calamari was cooked perfectly."
"Amazing selection of seafood on offer, cooked to a high standard. Really impressed with the fish stew, freshest octopus I've ever eaten. The trout curry was also exceptional. Keep an eye on the specials as they are also a great offering. The oyster catcher is small. Like very small, one criticism is that we arrived 10 mins early and although there were tables free we were asked to leave and return in rather cold weather. There is nowhere to stand so if you arrived early be prepared to be turned away. A small negative, but worth mentioning. Overall, I highly recommend oystercatcher for any fans of seafood and high quality produce."
"I recently had the pleasure of dining here as part of an IWFS group event, and the experience exceeded all expectations. The food from our bespoke menu was cooked to perfection, beautifully presented, and served in very generous portions. The ambience in this hidden gem, is reminiscent of one you might find in a Mediterranean seaside restaurant, making it easy to forget about being in a south Manchester suburb! The house wine, a delicate but aromatic white from Galicia, Caramuxo Latido Marino, is a dry, crisp, delicate white, made from Airen grapes, and was a discreet accompaniment to our main course. Certainly it's no mystery why this Specialist seafood venue receives such consistently praiseworthy reviews. It is well worth a visit. Highly recommended!"
"Very cozy and nice seafood restaurant within the residential neighborhood. Ordered fish’n’chips and swordfish steak. Both main courses were nicely cooked. Especially the beer buttered fish. It was very fresh. Besides? I ordered two side dishes - mussels and squid. Also tasted really good. Especially recommend the squid."
"Delicious food. Best cod dish I’ve had. Time between courses is so quick. Exactly how I like it. Waitresses are so nice and happy. Highly recommend to any fish lover. I’ll be going back defo"
